Our home school program encompasses our regular grading syllabus with all the trimmings of a dojo class including – self defense and anti-bullying strategies.
We are currently taking registrations for Term Three for classes in Kelmscott, Kwinana and Wandi.
Principal instructor Don McKay is a 4th Dan Black Belt and has been an instructor with Kofukan Australia since 2007. Please see what his current students have to say…
Karate for Life is a proud member of Kofukan Australia, WAKF, AKF MMAB. Our instructors are experienced, NCAS qualified, insured, WWCA and first aid trained.
Students will work their way through our grading syllabus and are offered the opportunity to attend additional classes at one of our dojo’s in either Harrisdale or Kwinana at a casual rate or just $10 a class (a ten class card can be purchased for $95).
Our traditional Style covers cultural and historical aspects of the development of Karate from China, Japan and into the Western World. Through partner work, group work and individual development students develop greater spatial awareness, flexibility, strength, problem solving skills and coordination confidence. Anti-bullying and personal safety strategies are weaved through all our classes.
Our Program offers your child a chance to experience Karate in a safe, family friendly environment whether in our dojo or as part of a term home school package.
What should students wear to class?
Something Comfortable, leggings or track pants and a t-shirt are fine and we train barefoot. Students will be able to purchase a Karate Gi for $50, or may be able to source on second hand from gum tree or buy and sell, just please ensure that it is plain white without any printed or embroidered logos. Please remember a drink bottle too!
Will home school Classes be graded?
Not necessarily, however all students that attend our Home School Classes will achieve a certificate of attainment at the end of each term. At the end of every school term our regular dojo’s in Harrisdale and Kwinana hold a grading. Any student that has shown themselves ready to grade will be given an invitation to attend to be assessed by our panel for their next belt.
Will we need to buy any equipment?
No, not initially. Students that achieve a Yellow belt will be moving into doing more partner work and will require their own personal protection equipment such as glove, shin pads and mouth guards. This is usually after 6-9 months of regular training.
How do we Pay?
You will be issued an invoice at the first class of each term. We ask that you pay via EFT within two weeks of receiving this.
